Free Cricket Calculators: 38 Tools for Scorers, Organisers and Fans

38 Tools That Get the Rules Right

Last over of the group stage. Your team needs to win by 14 runs to qualify on net run rate. Or is it 15? Someone on the boundary is doing the sum on a phone, and someone else is doing it differently.

Cricket runs on numbers that most people half remember. Net run rate has an all out rule. Overs are not decimals. DLS targets change over by over. A follow on depends on how many days the match has.

So we built 38 free cricket calculators and put them all at crickslab.com/toolkit. No account, no signup, and every answer shows its working so you can check it instead of trusting it.

This guide goes through all 38: what each one does, when you need it, and the mistake it stops you making. Use the headings to jump to your job: scorer, umpire, organiser, academy owner or fan.

What are Free Cricket Calculators?

Free cricket calculators are online tools that do cricket’s standard maths for you: run rates, averages, strike rates, net run rate, DLS targets, points tables and fixtures. The Crickslab toolkit has 38 of them, all free, with no account needed. Each one applies the official rule (the all out rule in NRR, balls instead of decimals in overs) and shows the working under the answer.

Why a Cricket Calculator is Better than a Phone Calculator

12.4 overs is 12 overs and 4 balls, or 12.667 overs, not 12.4

A phone calculator does not know cricket. It will happily divide by 12.4 overs when the real number is 12 overs and 4 balls, which is 12.667. It does not know that a team bowled out in 15 overs is charged the full 20 for net run rate. It does not know that a DLS target depends on wickets lost as well as overs left.

Those three mistakes decide tournaments every weekend. A cricket calculator that gets the rules right removes the argument.

Calculators For Scorers and Players

38 free cricket calculators grouped for scorers, officials, organisers and fans

These are the everyday numbers. Most of them take ten seconds.

Run Rate Calculator

Runs divided by overs faced, with overs converted to balls first. Use it mid innings to say how a side is going. Run Rate Calculator

Required Run Rate Calculator

Runs still needed divided by overs left, shown per over and per ball. Use it in a chase. Required Run Rate Calculator

Projected Score Calculator

Where an innings ends at the current rate, with a setting for death overs acceleration. Use it at the halfway point of an innings. Projected Score Calculator

Batting Strike Rate Calculator

Runs per 100 balls, with benchmarks for T20, one day and longer formats so you know what good looks like. Batting Strike Rate Calculator

Batting Average Calculator

Runs per dismissal. It handles not outs the way a scorecard does, which is the part people get wrong. Batting Average Calculator

Bowling Economy Rate Calculator

Runs conceded per over, converting part overs to balls first. Four overs and three balls is 4.5 overs, not 4.3. Bowling Economy Rate Calculator

Bowling Average Calculator

Runs conceded per wicket. Bowling Average Calculator

Bowling Strike Rate Calculator

Balls bowled per wicket. Lower is better. Bowling Strike Rate Calculator

Overs and Balls Converter

Converts between over notation (12.4), total balls (76) and decimal overs (12.667). This is the tool behind half the other tools, and the fix for the most common cricket maths mistake. Overs and Balls Converter

Partnership Calculator

Combined runs, the partnership run rate and each batter’s share. Partnership Calculator

Boundary Percentage Calculator

How much of an innings came in fours and sixes, and how often a boundary came. Boundary Percentage Calculator

Century Conversion Rate Calculator

How often a batter turns a fifty into a hundred. Century Conversion Rate Calculator

Career Milestone Calculator

Runs or wickets still needed to reach a milestone or lift an average to a target. Career Milestone Calculator

Net Run Rate Calculator

The one everyone argues about. Net run rate for one match or a whole season, with the all out rule applied: a side bowled out is charged its full quota of overs, not the overs it faced. Net Run Rate Calculator

Calculators for Umpires and League Officials

These are the rules that decide results, and the ones a match referee gets asked about with the covers coming on.

DLS Calculator

Revised targets and over by over par scores for rain affected matches, for T20 and one day cricket. Use it the moment an interruption starts, not after. DLS Calculator

Reduced Overs Planner

How many overs are still available after a stoppage, and whether a result is still possible under the playing conditions. Reduced Overs Planner

Points Table Builder

Enter the results of a group and get full standings with points, net run rate and tie breaks applied. Use it after every round so the table never depends on one person’s spreadsheet. Points Table Builder

Qualification Scenario Calculator

What a team needs from its remaining fixtures to qualify: the results, and the margins where net run rate decides it. This is the tool for the last week of a group stage. Qualification Scenario Calculator

Quotient Calculator

Runs per wicket divided by runs conceded per wicket. Many club leagues still use it as a tie break instead of net run rate. Quotient Calculator

Tie Breaker Resolver

Walks two or more level teams through a tie break ladder you set: points, head to head, net run rate, wins, and so on. Tie Breaker Resolver

Bonus Point Calculator

Bonus points under the common league systems, so a win by a big margin is credited the way the rules say. Bonus Point Calculator

Follow On Calculator

Whether a first innings lead is enough to enforce the follow on. The margin changes with match length: 200 runs in a five day match, less in shorter ones. Follow On Calculator

Over Rate and Penalty Calculator

Overs bowled against time elapsed, with allowances, deductions and the shortfall. Over Rate and Penalty Calculator

Match Duration and Timing Planner

A session and interval timetable for a match day, so everyone knows when lunch, tea and the last hour fall. Match Duration and Timing Planner

The Five Mistakes these Calculators Stop

Five cricket maths mistakes: decimal overs, the all out rule, averaging NRR, DLS, tie breaks

Treating overs as decimals. 12.4 overs is 12 overs and 4 balls, which is 12.667 overs. Divide by 12.4 and every run rate on the sheet is wrong.

Forgetting the all out rule. In net run rate, a team bowled out is charged its full quota of overs. A side all out for 120 in 15 overs of a T20 has a rate of 6.00, not 8.00.

Averaging net run rates. Tournament NRR is total runs over total overs across the whole competition, never the average of each match’s NRR.

Reading DLS off the wrong line. The target depends on overs lost and wickets down at the stoppage. Guessing a flat reduction gives the wrong target.

Using the wrong tie break. Some leagues use quotient, some use net run rate, some use head to head first. The rules should be written down before the season, and the Tie Breaker Resolver follows whatever ladder you set.

From Calculator to Scorecard

Five cricket maths mistakes: decimal overs, the all out rule, averaging NRR, DLS, tie breaks

A calculator answers one question. A live scorecard answers all of them at once.

When a match is scored ball by ball on Crickslab, the run rate, required rate, strike rates, economy, partnership and projected score update themselves, and the points table and net run rate update when the match ends. That is what live scoring and tournament management do. Scoring in the Crickslab app is free.

Kuwait Cricket Club runs around 30 matches a weekend this way, with every table live on Match Central. Read how Kuwait Cricket Club went digital.

The calculators stay free for everyone, whether you score on Crickslab or on paper.

Frequently asked questions

Are the Crickslab cricket calculators free?

Yes. All 38 free cricket calculators at crickslab.com/toolkit are free to use with no account and no signup.

Which free cricket calculator should I use for net run rate?

Use the Net Run Rate Calculator. It applies the all out rule, works for a single match or a full season, and shows the working under the answer.

Is there a free DLS calculator?

Yes. The DLS Calculator in the Crickslab toolkit gives revised targets and over by over par scores for T20 and one day matches affected by rain.

How do I calculate strike rate in cricket?

Divide runs by balls faced and multiply by 100. The Batting Strike Rate Calculator does this and shows format benchmarks. For bowlers, strike rate is balls bowled per wicket, and the Bowling Strike Rate Calculator handles that.

Why does 12.4 overs not mean 12.4 in a calculator?

Because overs are written in balls. 12.4 overs is 12 overs and 4 balls, or 12.667 overs. The Overs and Balls Converter does the conversion, and every other calculator in the toolkit converts automatically.

Can I build a points table with these calculators?

Yes. The Points Table Builder takes group results and produces full standings with points, net run rate and tie breaks. The Qualification Scenario Calculator then shows what each team needs from its remaining matches.
