How this was worked out

  1. 1MultiplierCaptain at 2.0x: 143.0 x 2.0 = 286.0
Scoring systems differ between fantasy platforms and are revised most seasons. This follows the shape the major platforms use and shows every component, so you can check it line by line against whichever one you play on.

How the number is worked out

The formula

Total = batting + bowling + fielding + rate adjustments, then the captaincy multiplier
batting
A point per run, plus boundary bonuses and milestone bonuses.
bowling
Points per wicket, plus haul bonuses and maidens.
fielding
Catches, stumpings and run outs.
rate adjustments
Strike rate and economy bonuses or penalties, applied only past a minimum involvement.
multiplier
Two times for a captain, one and a half for a vice captain.

A worked example: an all round performance as captain

62 from 38 balls with five fours and three sixes, plus 2 for 28 from four overs and a catch, picked as captain.

  1. 1Runs and boundaries62 + 5 fours + 6 for three sixes = 73
  2. 2Half century bonus+8
  3. 3Wickets2 x 25 = 50
  4. 4Catch+8
  5. 5Strike rate 163+4
  6. 6Before the multiplier143
  7. 7Captain at two times143 x 2 = 286

286 points. The captaincy pick is worth 143 on its own here, which is why it usually matters more than any single selection.

Rules and edge cases

The situations that change the answer, and the ones most calculators get wrong.

1

Every platform scores differently, and they change it

There is no standard fantasy cricket scoring system. The shape used here follows what the major platforms do, but the exact values move between seasons and between contest types. Every component is shown separately so you can check it line by line against yours.

2

Rate bonuses only apply past a minimum involvement

A batter who hits a six off his only ball has a strike rate of 600 and does not collect a strike rate bonus, because most platforms require a minimum number of balls faced. The same applies to economy and overs bowled.

3

The captaincy pick is usually the whole contest

Doubling one player's score swamps most other selection decisions. Two entries with identical elevens and different captains routinely finish hundreds of points apart.

4

A duck only costs you if the batter was dismissed

Nought not out is not a duck and carries no penalty on most platforms. Nought out does.

Frequently asked questions

Points come from runs, wickets, catches and stumpings, plus bonuses for boundaries, milestones and wicket hauls, and adjustments for strike rate and economy. The captain scores double and the vice captain one and a half times.

Real performances, recorded ball by ball

Every Crickslab match produces a full scorecard, so the performances behind these numbers are recorded properly rather than reconstructed from memory.
