Somerset acquires services of Imam-ul-Haq

. . .-100 . . . . . div , , p . , . , Pakistans opening batter Imam-ul-Haq, who has been in prolific form of late, has recently joined Somerset County Cricket Club. The agile lefty has been picked as a replacement of Matt Renshaw, the Australian opener, who is set to fly back to Australia for his availability for Queensland. It should be added that he will be available for selection for the last 4 contests of the LV Insurance County Championship. While Imam is still finding his feet in Test cricket, his first-class record is fairly impressive. The 26-year old has smashed 3502 runs in 57 first-class games at 41.69 while mustering 9 centuries and 17 half-centuries. Nevertheless, even in Tests, Imam has shown promise having scored 370 runs in the three-match series against Australia. Upon joining Somerset, Imam was found elated as he had heard his teammates Babar Azam and Azhar Ali sharing their experiences playing for this county. The Lahore born admitted that this will be a new challenge for him and he would try to do all he can for his county team. On the other hand, Andy Hurry, Somerset Director of Cricket, has also shared jubilation over this signing. Hurry believes that a player of Imams quality will help Somerset big time. In addition to this, he also extended his gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the assistance in the signing of Imam.
