Robinson Climbs To Fifth In ICC Test Bowling Rankings After Lord's

Ollie Robinson has risen six places to fifth in the ICC Test bowling rankings, his highest position since July 2023. The England seamer took eight wickets at Lord's last week. England won that Test by 194 runs and moved 2-0 up in the three-match World Test Championship series against Pakistan. Robinson collected the Player of the Match award for the second Test running.

Mitchell Starc keeps top spot among Test bowlers. The Australia left-armer took the position from Jasprit Bumrah last month. Josh Tongue was the other England mover, up four places to equal 13th and a career best.

Robinson's climb since Headingley

Robinson has gained 22 places since the series began, IANS reported, with Tongue up 20 over the same stretch. England won the opener at Headingley by an innings and 103 runs. Robinson then took eight for 35 in the match at Lord's, IANS reported. His career best ranking is fourth, reached in February 2023.

Pakistan's attack gained ground despite the scoreline. Mohammad Abbas took nine wickets in the match. Mohammad Ali claimed five in an innings. Both climbed sharply. The main risers among Test bowlers this week:

The second Test between Sri Lanka and India in Colombo drove most of the batting movement. Sonal Dinusha rose 29 places to a career-best 25th. IANS reported centuries in both innings from him, and an average of 86.57 across his first five Tests. Pasindu Sooriyabandara climbed 170 places to 74th in only his second Test after scores of 80 and 92.

India gained too. Devdutt Padikkal moved up five to 54th after 117 in the first innings. Dhruv Jurel went from 83rd to 65th on the back of an unbeaten 115. Kamindu Mendis returned to the top 10, up two, after a second-innings fifty.

Harry Brook stays first among Test batters. Steve Smith is second and Joe Root third. Saud Shakeel rose 15 places to 18th after his 97 at Lord's. Babar Azam slipped five to 15th and remains Pakistan's highest-ranked Test batter.

Brevis into the T20I top four

Dewald Brevis has reached a career-best fourth among T20I batters. The South Africa right-hander gained six places after 75 against Namibia, then 75 not out and 41 against Zimbabwe. All three innings came in the tri-series at Windhoek. Ishan Kishan leads that list. Sahibzada Farhan is second and Abhishek Sharma third.

Rashid Khan stays first among T20I bowlers. Brad Evans of Zimbabwe rose eight places to 26th. Kwena Maphaka gained 24 to 54th. Namibia's Jan Frylinck moved up eight to 98th among batters, IANS reported.

The third Test at Edgbaston

England and Pakistan close the series at Edgbaston. Pakistan have named a heavily changed squad for it, dropping seven players. The dates are 9 to 13 September. The next rankings update lands after that match.
