Namibia Tri-Series Begins With All Seven Matches At One Ground

The Namibia tri-series begins in Windhoek on Friday, with Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe playing seven T20 internationals at a single ground across ten days. Namibia meet South Africa first. Every match starts at 2pm CAT. The final is on 6 September.

All three boards are co-hosts of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027, which brings the tournament back to Africa for the first time since 2003. This is the first T20I tri-series between the three of them. The ICC announced the fixtures on 7 August and set out the full arrangements this week.

The full fixture list

Each side plays the other two twice. The top two after the six league matches contest the final.

• 28 August: Namibia v South Africa
• 29 August: South Africa v Zimbabwe
• 31 August: Namibia v Zimbabwe
• 1 September: Zimbabwe v South Africa
• 3 September: Namibia v Zimbabwe
• 4 September: Namibia v South Africa
• 6 September: Final between the top two

One ground carries the whole series

Every match is at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek. The ICC lists the venue among the 12 designated for the 2027 World Cup. Seven internationals in ten days keeps the square in continuous use, with no rest day at all between 28 and 29 August, or between 3 and 4 September.

Erasmus, Raza and Fortuin take charge

Gerhard Erasmus captains Namibia. Sikandar Raza leads Zimbabwe. Bjorn Fortuin captains a South Africa squad that includes Dewald Brevis, Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Kwena Maphaka. Namibia play four of the six league matches, all of them at home.

Africa's first World Cup since 2003

The 2027 World Cup runs across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in October and November next year. The ICC has described this tri-series as groundwork for an Africa Cup due to launch in 2027. For Namibia the nearer test is simpler: four home fixtures against full members, on their own square, starting Friday.
