Making an absolute mockery of a power-packed batting line-up, the Indian spearhead claimed 6 wickets for 19 runs, which is his best bowling figures ever in ODI cricket. As a result, Bumrah has shown tremendous progress on the ICC bowling rankings as he has dethroned New Zealands Trent Boult to retake the top position. Earlier, Boult claimed this spot from Bumrah in February 2020, before which the right-arm quick stayed on top for almost 2 years. In fact, he has enjoyed the top spot for a total of 730 days, which is the most by any Indian and the ninth-most in the history of ODI cricket. Currently, Bumrah has 718 rating points closely followed by Boults 712. Moreover, Pakistans spearhead Shaheen Afridi isnt too far as the lanky fellow is on third spot having 681 rating points. Apart from ODIs, Bumrah is on the third position in Test rankings, which shows the quality he has been displaying for the men in blue across the formats. With India set to play 2 more games in this series, it would be interesting to see if the quality paceman can hold on to his ODI throne.
