Farhan Sets 238-Run Series Record As Sri Lanka Win Third T20I

Sahibzada Farhan ended with 238 runs, a T20I series record for a three-match bilateral contest between Full Member sides. The Pakistan captain got 76 of them in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. It was not enough. Sri Lanka chased 169 with 17 balls to spare and won by eight wickets. Pakistan had already taken the series 2-1.

Farhan passed a mark set earlier this year. Abhishek Sharma made 229 against Afghanistan in 2026. The ICC confirmed the new figure after play. Farhan averaged 79.33 across the three innings at a strike rate of 165.27, with a half-century in each. He was named player of the series.

The series record ladder

  • Sahibzada Farhan, 238 against Sri Lanka, 2026
  • Abhishek Sharma, 229 against Afghanistan, 2026
  • Colin Munro, 223 against West Indies, 2017-18
  • David Warner, 217 against Sri Lanka, 2019

Rawalpindi goes to Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka won the toss and bowled. Pakistan made 168 for 8. Farhan hit seven fours and three sixes in his 76 off 47 balls. Arafat Minhas finished unbeaten on 34 from 20. Dasun Shanaka was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 21 from four overs. Nuwan Thushara and Eshan Malinga took two apiece, and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth conceded only 23 in his four.

Sri Lanka lost Lahiru Udara in the second over. They were never troubled after that. Kusal Mendis finished on 87 not out with nine fours and four sixes, and took the player of the match award. Sineth Jayawardena made 38 in a stand of 59. Kamindu Mendis then stayed with his captain for an unbeaten 98, closing the game out at 172 for 2 in 17.1 overs.

Pakistan's batting beyond the captain

Take Farhan and Minhas out of the card and Pakistan made 58. Fakhar Zaman went for 12. Maaz Sadaqat and Razaullah made ducks. Four wickets fell between 67 and 102. That is where the innings lost its shape, and Shanaka did most of the damage through those overs. Pakistan's own bowlers managed one wicket each for Mohammad Imran and Minhas, and nothing else.

"The way we set a superb target in the first two matches, today also we had the same plan," Farhan said afterwards. He offered the plainer reading too. "It's cricket, you're not always in form."

Mendis closes a busy month

Sri Lanka's captain took the Test captaincy earlier this month. That gave him all three formats. He has now ended the tour with an unbeaten innings that settled a chase from the second over onwards. Pakistan won the first T20I by four wickets and the second by 82 runs. Those two margins decided the series, not anything that happened on Tuesday.
