Chamari Athapaththu Hat-Trick Seals 7 For 5 In Women's Asia Cup
A Chamari Athapaththu hat-trick and figures of 7 for 5 sent Indonesia tumbling to 49 all out in the Women's Asia Cup 2026 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 2 September. Sri Lanka won by 75 runs. Their captain bowled 3.3 overs. She took seven of the ten wickets.
It was Sri Lanka's second win in a row. They lead Group B.
Twenty-one balls, seven wickets
Athapaththu's spell lasted 21 deliveries. Five runs came off them. Indonesia, chasing 125, were bowled out in 18.3 overs, and the captain finished the innings herself.
The ICC records the return as the fifth-best bowling figures in Women's T20I history, and only the sixth instance of a bowler taking seven or more wickets in the format. CricTracker reported that Athapaththu is the first Sri Lankan woman to take a hat-trick in T20I cricket.

Three bowlers shared the remaining wickets. No Indonesia batter reached the total Athapaththu conceded across her whole spell.
Silva rescues a stalling innings
Sri Lanka batted first and got into trouble. Indonesia reduced them to 62 for 6. Nilakshika Silva then made 50 from 35 balls with three fours and a six, and Sri Lanka closed on 124 for 7 from their 20 overs.
Indonesia's bowlers had done the harder work of the two attacks for most of the day. Ni Luh Dewi took 3 for 32 and Sang Maypriani 2 for 19, with Sofia Velic and Ni Ariani taking one apiece. A total of 124 looked defendable rather than commanding when the innings ended.
Group B after two rounds
Sri Lanka opened the tournament by bowling the UAE out for 79. Indonesia are their second win. Two results have put them top of the group, and Bangladesh are next on 6 September.
Indonesia are one of four associate sides in this year's draw. Their bowlers restricting a full-member batting line-up to 124 will read better in the tournament review than the 49 that followed it.
