Bumrah’s quality torments England in 1st ODI

First they won the T20I series backed by incredible displays and then carried the good form to dominate England in the first of the three-match series. Winning the toss, India decided to bowl first and take any possible advantage of the greenery on the pitch along with some cloud cover. Right from the word go, Indian pacers looked deadly and made the ball talk. In particular, it was the paceman Jasprit Bumrah who swung the white ball like a magicians wand. Be it the aggression of Jonny Bairstow, the class of Joe Root, the charisma of Ben Stokes or the magic of Jos Buttler, India had answers to all the questions. Bumrah, in fact, destroyed the English line-up in his first spell, pocketing as many as 4 wickets. Later on, he came back to add 2 more to his tally, claiming 6-19 which is his best ODI bowling figures. Bumrah was complemented by Mohammad Shamis 3-fer and Hardik Pandya as England slumped to 110 all out, which is their lowest total ever against India. India had a harmless total to chase, which was taken care of by the calm heads of openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. While the former scored a sparkling half-century, the latter made a neat 31 to help India take a 1-0 lead in the series.
