Bangladesh Tour Of Nepal 2027 Set For Three T20Is In Kathmandu

The Bangladesh tour of Nepal will bring three T20Is to Kathmandu in March 2027. The Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed the fixtures this week. All three go to Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium. It is the first bilateral series between the two men's teams.

Bangladesh has never toured Nepal before at senior men's level. The sides have met twice. Both meetings came at ICC Men's T20 World Cups, in 2014 and in 2024. Neither was played on Nepali soil.

Three matches at Tribhuvan University

The series opens on 26 March 2027. Sources differ on the rest of the schedule. The ICC and Geo Super give only the opening date. myRepublica lists the second and third matches on 28 and 30 March.

  • First T20I: 26 March 2027, Kathmandu
  • Second T20I: 28 March 2027, Kathmandu, per myRepublica
  • Third T20I: 30 March 2027, Kathmandu, per myRepublica

One ground takes all three. Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium is Nepal's principal international venue. A compressed three-match block puts the square under load across five days.

A first bilateral between the sides

Full Member boards rarely schedule standalone bilateral series in associate countries. Nepal's home calendar has leaned on associate opposition and tri-series arrangements. A three-match visit from a Test nation is a different order of fixture. It changes what the venue must deliver, and what the board around it must organise.

Broadcast, accreditation and turnstile operations all scale up for a Full Member visit. So does the ranking value. Three T20Is against Bangladesh carry points Nepal cannot earn against lower-ranked neighbours.

The series dedication

Bangladesh dedicated the tour to victims of recent flooding in Nepal. "The three matches will provide an opportunity for Bangladesh and Nepal to come together through cricket and convey a message of friendship and solidarity at a time of great loss," the board said.

myRepublica reported the tour was confirmed after discussions between Bangladesh's State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque and Nepal's Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari. That places the agreement partly in a diplomatic channel rather than a purely cricketing one.

Qualifying picture for 2028

Bangladesh has already qualified for the 2028 T20 World Cup. Nepal has not. Nepal's route runs through the Global Qualifier.

That gap shapes what each side wants from the week. Bangladesh can experiment with a secured place. Nepal cannot. Every T20I between now and the qualifier is audition time for players pushing for selection, and the opposition here is the strongest Nepal will host in this cycle.

March 2027 sits well ahead of that qualifier. The series is preparation, not a shortcut. Three matches against a qualified Full Member side is the fixture associate boards spend years trying to secure, and Nepal has secured it at home.
