Bangladesh ODI Squad Names Aliss Al Islam For Abu Dhabi Tri-Series

Bangladesh have named 16 players for next week's one-day tri-series in the United Arab Emirates, with off-spinner Aliss Al Islam included for the first time. The Bangladesh ODI squad was announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Saturday. Litton Das captains. Tawhid Hridoy is his deputy. Afghanistan and Zimbabwe make up the rest of the field. All four fixtures are in Abu Dhabi.
Aliss Al Islam earns the call
Aliss Al Islam has one T20I to his name. That came on debut against Sri Lanka at the Asian Games. He has never played a one-day international, and a first cap is on offer in Abu Dhabi. The off-spinner joins Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Rishad Hossain and Tanvir Islam, which gives the selectors four frontline spin options for surfaces that usually reward them. Nahid Rana is absent. He is still recovering from a side strain.

Litton Das back from injury
Litton Das missed the ODI series against Zimbabwe in July with an injury. He was handed the one-day captaincy earlier this year with the 2027 World Cup in view. CricTracker reported that Saif Uddin and Parvez Hossain Emon, both of whom featured during that July series, were left out of this group.
Hasan Mahmud keeps his place. The ICC credits him as the architect of Bangladesh's Test win over Australia in Darwin. He lines up alongside Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam, giving the squad a four-man seam group.
A round robin and a final in Abu Dhabi
Each side plays the other two once. The tournament then ends with a final. Zayed Cricket Stadium hosts all four matches. The whole thing is done inside a week. CricTracker reported a 5.30pm India time start for each fixture.
Three boards sharing a neutral venue
Bangladesh last played ODIs in July, against Zimbabwe. The two meet again on 17 October. Zimbabwe have also named white-ball squads for the UAE tour, according to the ICC. Neutral venues suit all three boards here. None has to clear a home season for a block of four matches. October in the UAE also carries little weather risk.
The 50-over game gets a rare outing between these three. Litton's appointment was framed around the 2027 World Cup from the start, and the tri-series gives Bangladesh three one-day internationals before the end of October. Afghanistan and Zimbabwe each get two, plus the final if they reach it.
