Bangladesh Asian Games 2026 Squad: Litton Das Leads 15 To Japan

The Bangladesh Asian Games 2026 squad is a 15-man group captained by Litton Das. The competition begins in Japan on 17 September. Bangladesh took bronze at the previous edition. Najmul Hossain Shanto returns alongside the captain.

Eleven teams will play. Six qualified directly and five came through qualifying.

The fifteen named

The Tribune reported that several of the squad played in the series against Zimbabwe in July, Litton and Shanto among them. Four frontline seamers travel. Rishad Hossain, Shak Mahedi Hasan and Nasum Ahmed give the side three spin options.

Eleven teams in Japan

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh qualified automatically. Japan are in as hosts. Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China and Oman came through qualifying tournaments to complete the field.

Five of the eleven are associate members. That ratio is unusual for a tournament carrying full-member Test nations, and it gives sides such as Nepal, Malaysia and Oman fixtures against India and Pakistan that the international calendar does not otherwise offer them.

Bronze in the last edition

Bangladesh finished third at the previous Asian Games. India took gold and Sri Lanka silver. A medal of any colour therefore requires beating at least one of the two sides that finished above them, and the draw has not yet been published.

Japan's turn as host

The Asian Games send full international squads to a country with a small playing base. Japan take a place in the field as hosts. Bangladesh open their campaign once the schedule is published, with the cricket starting on 17 September.
